Artist of Year rerecording old tracks

LOS ANGELES: Taylor Swift has retained her artist of the year title at the American Music Awards and confirmed she is in the process of rerecording her old music.

She was not at the ceremony in Los Angeles and delivered her acceptance speech remotely. She revealed the reason she could not make it to the show was because she was in the studio working on new versions of her back catalogue.

The rerecording of those tracks is in response to her master recordings being sold to a private equity firm.

Earlier in the night, Canadian musician The Weeknd accepted the trophy for best soul/R&B album for After Hours on Sunday and later performed sporting a large white bandage that wrapped around his face and nose.

He gave no reason for his appearance, which confused fans on social media, but it appeared to be an artistic choice that started with his March album cover where he sported a bloodied and broken nose. — AAP
