Dunedin men complimented
A correspondent forwards an extract from a letter received from the Dunedin lady now in Tasmania: ‘‘The Tasmanian papers are not up to much, the Dunedin papers being far superior. The Dunedin tram conductors are superior in manner, appearance and uniform to those of Tasmania. Visitors to New Zealand favourably comment on the Dunedin men as unsurpassed anywhere for courtesy and attention, particularly to old people and little children, also to strangers, to whom they are often very helpful. Visitors from the north are very favourably impressed by them, and the tramway men should be informed of this cheering compliment.’’ — ODT, 24.11.1920.
