Four people charged with murder
CHRISTCHURCH: A fourth person has been arrested and charged with murder following the death of Christchurch man Kane Wayman.
Police yesterday arrested a 31yearold man who is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court today.
A police spokeswoman said an investigation to establish if any other people were involved was continuing.
Meanwhile, two people appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Saturday, jointly charged, along with ‘‘persons unknown’’, with murdering Mr Wayman.
The pair, a man and woman, both aged 24, appeared in court separately and were granted interim name suppression.
The 24yearold male accused has been identified on charging documents as a farm hand. The woman is from Christchurch.
A third person, a 41yearold man, was arrested and charged with murder on Saturday as well.
He was arrested in Southland and is due to appear in the Invercargill District Court today.
Police confirmed Mr Wayman had been dropped at the hospital on Friday with critical injuries and later died.
It was revealed on Friday night armed police had raided a South Island gang headquarters in connection with the death.
