Pelosi returned as speaker
Washington: Nancy Pelosi has been narrowly reelected as Speaker in the United States House of Representatives where Democrats hold a slender majority.
Pelosi, who has led her party in the House since 2003, received 216 votes to 209 for Republican Kevin McCarthy, who again will be the chamber's minority leader.
‘‘We accept a responsibility as daunting and demanding as any that previous generations of leadership have faced,’’ the California Democrat told the chamber as she accepted a fresh twoyear term in the post.
