Boil water notices stay

BOIL water notices will remain in the Waitaki townships of Otematata, Duntroon, Tokarahi and Awamoko due to flooding over the weekend.

Waitaki District Council senior operations engineer (water services) Joshua Rendell said dirt and debris had entered the supply chain and meant water could not be properly treated.

Mr Rendell said given the forecast for the remainder of this week, boil water notices for each supply would stay in place until at least early next week.

Mr Rendell said other supplies were unaffected at this stage. This included the Oamaru supply which is sourced from the Waitaki River via a water race from the Waitaki Valley and which supplies Oamaru, Weston, Enfield, Kakanui, Herbert, Waianakarua, Hampden and Moeraki.
