Sri Lanka fights back
Cricket: Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne and seamer Vishwa Fernando led a fightback against South Africa on the second day of the second test but the visiting side remained precariously placed in a fastmoving contest yesterday.
Fernando took his first test fivewicket haul as Sri Lanka dismissed South Africa for 302 in its first innings, restricting the host to a 145run lead, while Karunaratne scored an unbeaten 91 in his team’s second innings.
Sri Lanka was 150 for four at stumps, leading by five runs with three days still to play at The Wanderers Stadium.
