Forest surveys for reserves
A general reconnaissance of the forests from Lake Taupo to East Cape, covering the backbone of the mountain ranges of the district, is to be made shortly by a staff of conservators and rangers from the Department of Forestry (states the Taranaki Herald). The object is to define the areas of forests which should be dedicated as state forest for protection purposes. A similar and very important survey is to be made of the east slopes of the Southern Alps. — ODT, 7.1.1921.
