AFTER drinking three glasses of wine at home, a Tarras woman drank another half a bottle while driving to Kingston last month.

Daniealle Leigh Feary (30), selfemployed, admitted a charge of drinkdriving (second conviction) when she appeared before Judge Bernadette Farnan in the Queenstown District Court yesterday.

Prosecuting Sergeant Tim Hamilton told the court a motorist reported Feary’s driving to the police about 5pm on December 20, complaining her vehicle had crossed the centre line and veered to the lefthand side of the road several times before stopping at a rest area near Kingston.

A police patrol found her there and, after a positive breath screening test, she was taken to the Queenstown police station where an evidential breath test gave a result of 1031mcg.

‘‘In explanation, the defendant stated she’d consumed three glasses of red wine at home before entering her vehicle, and while in control of the vehicle, drank half a bottle of white wine, which was located inside the vehicle,’’ Sgt Hamilton said.

Judge Farnan told the defendant, ‘‘clearly things weren't going well for you’’ at the time of the offending.

Feary must serve nine months' supervision to enable counselling for her alcohol issues, and carry out 60 hours' community work.

She is disqualified from driving for 28 days, with alcohol interlock and zeroalcohol licence provisions.
