Bank was warned
Wellington: The Reserve Bank was warned about a critical problem in its filesharing service weeks before a major breach.
The central bank acknowledged on Sunday a thirdparty service it uses to share and store sensitive information, known as Accellion, was illegally accessed.
However, it has been revealed the Reserve Bank was made aware of an issue in the software it uses from Accellion in midDecember.
An Accellion spokesman said it notified customers after it discovered vulnerability in its file transfer appliance software and subsequently released a patch.
The RBNZ has been asked to confirm when it downloaded the patch. — RNZ
