I MUST advise that you have published the wrong photograph on page 11 of today’s ODT (30.12.20). The photograph depicts the Kawarau

Falls Bridge, opened in 1926.

There are two modern road bridges and three historic bridges over the Kawarau River. The historic road bridges are the Kawarau Falls Bridge, the Kawarau Bridge (bungy jump site) and the Victoria Bridge, beyond the Nevis Bluff as you travel downstream.

I believe it was the Kawarau Bridge that opened in 1881.
