Fire emergencies

Perth: Emergency warnings were issued last night for separate bushfires threatening lives in Perth's eastern foothills and the Wheatbelt region.

Firefighters were battling to contain an outofcontrol blaze in High Wycombe, near the Perth Hills.

Residents in the northeast were warned they were in danger and needed to act immediately to survive.

An emergency alert was also issued for parts of Daliak in the Shire of York, about 96km east of Perth, which forced the closure of the Great Southern Highway. — AAP
