Road surface
WITH respect, the damage to the George King Memorial Dr road surface (ODT, 20.1.21) was not caused by rain, but by heat damage to a poorquality surface. On January 15, at about 2pm, two tractors with baler and hayrake attached drove over this section of road and the surface stuck to all tyres. The road starts ‘‘bleeding’’ and becoming sticky whenever the temperature rises above about 20degC and has done for the last three years at least.
I suggest that the original quality of the road resurfacing was not fit for purpose, this being a rural road that loaded stock and log trucks and farm equipment need to traverse.
