Survey shows parking, environment concerns
COUNCILLORS noted the most recent residents’ opinion survey, which revealed peoples’ top two priorities are more parking and being more environmentally friendly.
Some councillors spoke about the complexity in the demands of the community the two top concerns demonstrated, while others suggested the two were not mutually exclusive and because someone drove a car, it did not mean they were not concerned about the environment.
Cr Carmen Houlahan highlighted a drop in satisfaction with public consultation in the survey, and said people likely did not feel listened to by the council.
Cr Jules Radich said while he was pleased to see feedback about council staff was positive, significant concerns from residents concerning parking, roads and traffic flow in the survey needed to be acted on by the council.
‘‘A level of dissatisfaction is there, we need to pay some attention to that.’’
Cr Marie Laufiso noted a lack of input in the survey from minority groups.
