Police report two driving incidents early in morning

TWO in the morning appears to be a popular time in the Waitaki district.

An Oamaru police spokeswoma­n said yesterday morning, a 30yearold Oamaru man was stopped by police in Thames Highway, and had a breathalco­hol level of 534mcg.

He will appear in the Oamaru District Court on February 10.

At the same time, Oamaru police were called to a crash in KurowDuntr­oon Rd, near

Otiake.

A 19yearold Kurow woman was driving when she had an argument with her passengers, and drove through a fence into an empty paddock.

She had been drinking, and police were awaiting the results of blood tests, the spokeswoma­n said.

Noone was injured but all passengers were taken to Oamaru Hospital as a precaution.

Inquiries into the crash were continuing.
