Fine weather shines on Cup Day
The crowds turned up for a sunny Invercargill Cup Day on Saturday.
Southern Harness Racing promotions officer Lindsay Beer said the good weather treated attendees.
‘‘There was an excellent crowd, with a lot of families.’’
There was a total of nine races, and Pembrook Playboy, driven by Nathan Williamson, was the winner of the Invercargill Cup.
The next race was won by Memphis Tennessee (pictured), driven by veteran Blair Orange.
Every eventgoer had a chance to win, however, as a $500 Fiordland travel package could be won by a draw of losing tickets.
The event was free, with plenty of children’s activities.
These included bouncy castles, bumper balls, sumo suits, a kids’ tote, sack races, a headsandtails game and horseshoe throwing.
