Water restrictions work
Christchurch: The Christchurch City Council says water restrictions have worked, and saved thousands of cubic metres of water.
Council spokeswoman Helen Beaumont said the system could manage when water usage doubled in the afternoon — the busiest period of the day — but on hot days demand could exceed those peaks, and the network started to struggle.
When reservoirs and water pressure were affected, it could create problems if steady supplies of water were needed for activities such as firefighting. — RNZ
