Man charged over tyre fire
Christchurch: A man charged with arson after a massive fire at a North Canterbury stockpile of tens of thousands of tyres has been granted interim name suppression.
Emergency services were called to the blaze outside Amberley about 3.10pm on Friday.
The man in his 60s was due to appear in the Christchurch District Court yesterday.
However, he was given a registrar’s remand and granted interim name suppression.
He will be back in court on February 23. — The New Zealand Herald
