Wada not appealing

Olympics: The World AntiDoping Agency will not appeal the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s decision to halve Russia’s ban for doping offences.

Wada made the announcement yesterday, saying the grounds of appeal to the Swiss Federal Tribunal were limited to procedural matters and not the proportionality of the ban to the offences.

The CAS halved the ban given to Russia from four years to two in December, preventing the country competing as a nation at the Olympics in Tokyo and Winter Games in Beijing 2022, although its athletes can compete as neutrals. — DPA
