Owls Do Cry

This performance of Janet Frame’s 1957 novel Owls Do Cry debuted in 2019 in Oamaru, Frame’s hometown, to a large appreciative audience. Red Leap artistic director Julie Nolan uses live music, song, poetry, dynamic movement and audio visual to bring the story to life. Auckland theatre reviewer Cynthia Lam describes it overall as ‘‘a stunning and evocative theatrical interpretation that feels modern, innovative and exciting’’.
