Stonethrowing a problem
The love of destruction is inherent in some people — mostly young people — but why they should elect to destroy their own property is unexplainable. The City Corporation is put to a considerable expense every year in replacing electric bulbs which have been wantonly broken by stonethrowers. The greatest damage is done to the electric lights on the Belt and those adjacent to Jubilee Park. The evil has now become so pronounced that the corporation has decided to give a substantial reward to any person who can give information which will lead to the conviction of any of these particular malefactors. — ODT, 5.2.1921.
