Milton stalwart dies suddenly

-

The tragically sudden death of Mr Charles King occurred at Milton on Thursday night during the welcome social being tended to Canon J. C. Small and Mrs J. C. Small, who have recently returned to Milton. After Mr King had extended his felicitations, he resumed his seat and shortly afterwards collapsed with a heart seizure and died. The late Mr King, who was about 73 years of age, was born in Hertfordshire, England, and educated at Stratford, near London, where he learnt the trade of plumber and tinsmith. He came to Otago in 1874, and after a short period at his trade in Dunedin, he entered into business on his own account at Milton, which he carried on until disposing of it about a month ago.
