Taieri fire contained

A HELICOPTER was sent to a scrub fire on the Taieri Plain yesterday afternoon.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said they received multiple calls to scrub on fire in Taieri Ferry Rd, at 4.15pm.

Rural fire crews responded and sent a helicopter to the scene.

Six appliances and a tanker were later sent to the scene, where they found less than a hectare of fire had been contained by ground crews, the spokesman said.
