St Kevin’s rises in Borton Cup rankings

THE St Kevin’s First XI moved up the Borton Cup ladder when it defeated Albion in the North Otago club competitio­n on Saturday.

Batting first, the College side was dismissed for 186 with Regan George (55) leading the way supported by the consistent Liam Direen (43) while bowling for Albion, Steve Slack claimed three for 31 and Mac

Singh, four for 40.

The Albion top order slumped in reply to be 93 for seven and the side was all out for 116.

Jonty Naylor (20) and Ben Davis (27 not out) held the side together, while for St Kevin’s, Jacob Fowler took three for 18 and Adam Docherty and Jack Cameron took two wickets each.

Union defeated Waitaki Boys’ High School at King

George Park by 127 runs.

Batting first, Union made 261 for seven it its 50 overs with Duncan Drew (41), Brad Fleming (42) and Happy Singh (30 not out) making runs while bowling for Waitaki Boys’ Liam Mavor took three for 27 and Quin Wardle claimed three for 33.

Waitaki did not have the batting strength and succumbed to be dismissed for 74 after facing 26 of the 50 overs with playercoac­h scoring 21.

Blake James and Jonty White took three wickets each.

Oamaru had too much batting power for Glenavy. Batting first, Oamaru made 290 for seven with Sarel Smit (72), John Bartlett (53) and Harvinder Sandhu (46) in good form while Ross McCulloch took two for 46 for Glenavy. Glenavy was dismissed in the chase for 166 runs.
