To the point

-

ON reading your report of the meeting at Waikouaiti on the DCC water testing debacle (ODT,

6.2.21), it crossed my mind that Mayor Hawkins could have gained more credibility with the audience had he given a soulful rendition of It’s Not Easy Being

Green, particularly as he demonstrated by his performance, he appears to have more than just colour preference in common with the original singer.

IT was only a matter of time before the DCC failed again on providing a safe and basic service to its ratepayers. A focus on the council’s own personal ideologies and ‘‘nice to haves’’ rather than providing the basics efficiently to its ratepayers has seen another systemic failure. Ratepayers and residents deserve better.

IF we are to reduce our livestock numbers, how much is that going to reduce the national income by? Given the resulting reduction in farmer incomes, is anyone else willing to take a similar pay cut?

A NEW Zealand agriculture minister proposing a transtasman banning of callous cattle exports to China would be much more progressive than giving Australians a ‘‘show China more respect’’ lesson in how to kowtow.

IT is becoming more than irritating to hear many TV news reporters inserting unnecessary and poorly timed pauses in their reports, making them sound ridiculous and totally unprofessional. Or is it just me?
