Otago A clinches oneday series against Canterbury A

OTAGO A has won the final game in a series of one day matches against Canterbury A in Timaru.

The two sides had split the first two games, Otago A winning the match on Sunday and Canterbury getting its revenge on Monday.

Yesterday, Canterbury A batted first and battled its way through to a defendable target, scoring 310 for nine wickets in its 50 overs. Ben Lockrose took four wickets for Otago A.

Otago accelerate­d its scoring right throughout its innings and won the game in the 46th over.

Max O’Dowd brought up his century and hit the winning runs, as Otago scored 313 for five wickets. O’Dowd scored 101.

He was helped by Josh Finnie, who scored a whirlwind 76 from 46 balls, including 52 runs in boundaries.

Max Chu was unbeaten on 61 at the end as he shared an unbeaten 140 run partnershi­p with O’Dowd.
