Plunket leaving

Auckland: MediaWorks has confirmed presenter Sean Plunket is leaving the company.

Plunket was the afternoon host on MediaWorks talk radio station Magic Talk.

MediaWorks had come under scrutiny in recent weeks following racist comments by former Auckland mayor and politician John Banks on the station.

The company was also fined $3000 by the Broadcasting Standards Authority in December after finding Plunket had promoted negative Maori stereotypes when interviewing an iwi leader on Te WhanauaApanui’s Covid19 roadblocks. — RNZ
