Motorcyclists have had a good warmup
It took a week and ahalf for Kendra Caddy and George Palmer to ride from their hometown of Wellington to Invercargill for their first Burt Munro Challenge experience.
The pair were setting up camp at Oreti Park yesterday ahead of the Have A Go event, with all their gear packed on to the back of their bikes.
Mr Palmer said he had heard all the hype about the event and wanted to ‘‘get amongst it’’.
While they would not be racing, they were keen to try out their motorcycle skills during the event.
‘‘A lot of people seem to be making a trip of it. We’ve seen tons of riders on the way down and everyone is really friendly.’’
The beach race and the hill climb were the two events they were most curious about.
