Teacher and journalist dies

A wellknown exresident of the Clutha district in the person of Mr James Christie (57), second son of the late Mr William Christie of Warepa (first proprietor of the old Caledonian Hotel, and afterwards original holder of Keithmore Farm, Toiro) passed away on Friday night at his residence, Lowburn. The late Mr James Christie was a brother of John and the late Dr William Ledingham Christie. He was for a number of years engaged in journalism, and was at one time connected with the Waimate Times, Clutha Leader, Otago Daily Times and Bruce Herald. He served as a pupil teacher at the Warepa School, under the late Mr William Waddell, and for the last 10 or 11 years has been teaching. He was for some time in charge of the Puketiro School. — ODT, 11.2.1921.
