Firearm charges pair remanded in custody

INVERCARGI­LL: Two men allegedly involved in a gun incident at Glengarry Tavern over the weekend appeared in the Invercargi­ll District Court yesterday.

Tre MoeruaAwhi­tu and Mangu Tamatea faced charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and presenting a firearm.

Two other men were also arrested in relation to the incident, but the charges brought against them were withdrawn by police.

The Otago Daily Times understand­s the incident happened on Saturday during an altercatio­n between rival gangs in the pub.

Both men were remanded in custody by Judge Russell Walker without a plea until their next appearance on March 2.
