Everton wins thriller; Man City sets record

LIVERPOOL: Everton has advanced to the FA Cup quarterfin­als after edging Tottenham Hotspur for a thrilling 54 extratime win at Goodison Park.

A 97thminute goal from substitute Bernard put the game to bed for Everton, which continues to push for its first FA Cup triumph since 1995.

Meanwhile, Manchester City breezed past Championsh­ip side Swansea for a 31 win which made English football history.

The victory broke the English football record for the longest winning run in all English competitio­ns, with 15 successive victories for the Manchester side.

The previous record of 14 wins in a row was held by both Preston and Arsenal.

Elsewhere, Leicester City beat Brighton and Hove Albion 10 with a lastminute goal from striker Kelechi Iheanacho, and Premier League struggler Sheffield United won 10 against Championsh­ip team Bristol City. — Reuters/ RNZ
