Dinner raises funds for medical research
Prof Michael Baker, a public health physician and professor in the department of public health at the University of Otago’s Wellington campus, addresses a black tie dinner event at the Dunedin Town Hall last night.
The annual dinner is a main fundraising event for the Otago Medical Research Foundation.
Founded in 1967, the foundation funds small innovative medical research projects and summer scholarships at Otago.
The evening featured musical entertainment, including the St Kilda Brass Band, and an auction as well as Prof Baker’s address.
The foundation’s director of development, Susan Sims, said the dinner was traditionally ‘‘very successful’’, having previously raised $100,000 for medical research.
