A dozen members of the Hospitallers Club of the Order of St John (Dunedin subcentre) picked half a ton of apricots and plums at Roxburgh in February 1981. They made some into jam and froze the remainder, to be used by meals on wheels, district nurses and doctors for lonely people or sold at a street day appeal in May. The club president, Mrs Betty Jackson (right), stirs apricot jam while the secretary, Mrs Lille Sim (left ), prepares bags of fruit for freezing. Beside Mrs Sim is Miss May McGill and second from right is Mrs Thelma Wingham.
