Fugitives hide in ceiling

Auckland: Three people have been arrested, accused of crashing a stolen car and trying to hide in the ceiling of a building.

Police say a white ute was taken from a car dealership in Stonedon Drive in East Tamaki, Auckland about midnight on Saturday then driven to Maurice Paykel Place, where it crashed into a commercial premises.

Police arrested one person while the other two people climbed into the ceiling, but one fell to the ground.

Police provided first aid and the alleged offender was taken to Middlemore Hospital with non lifethreat­ening injuries. He has not yet been charged.

A 25yearold man has been charged with burglary and a 29yearold man has been charged with burglary and wilful damage. — RNZ
