Property revaluations delayed
PROPERTY revaluations in Queenstown Lakes have been delayed until later this year.
Queenstown Lakes District Council asked the Office of the Valuer General to defer the triennial evaluations that were due in spring 2020 because of the pandemic.
The council uses the valuations to decide how much each property owner should pay in rates.
Officials felt it unlikely that credible valuations would be possible in 2020 ‘‘given the unique circumstances of the global pandemic’’.
The valuer general agreed to defer until late October or early November, and rates will reflect revised property estimates from July next year.
