Invercargi­ll: Anyone wanting to return voting papers for the Invercargi­ll City Council byelection will have to deliver their votes.

Postal voting had now closed, so voters were being asked to drop off their papers at ICC Civic Administra­tion Building CAB) in Esk St, the Bluff Service Centre, in Gore

St, or at the Invercargi­ll Public Library.

Deputy electoral officer Michael Morris said if people could not get to the CAB in business hours they could drop the papers in through the afterhours slot next to the main doors.

To date, 10,863 votes have been received, about 27% of eligible voters.

Nine candidates are contesting the election for a single seat.

Voting closes at noon on Wednesday, February 17.
