Wales mounts fightback to edge Scotland
RUGBY
EDINBURGH: Wales roared back from a 173 halftime deficit to complete a remarkable 2524 Six Nations win over 14man Scotland yesterday in a crackling encounter in which momentum shifted time and again.
However, the last laugh belonged to Wales in a breathless finale as Louis ReesZammit scored his second try via his own brilliant chip and chase.
‘‘We can be pleased with the character we showed, but for large parts of that game we were disappointing,’’ Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones said.
Scotland, which opened the tournament in such style with a surprise 116 win over the muchfancied England, was left regretting poor discipline and several spurned chances to kick points late on.
England put last week’s Scotland defeat behind it in a sixtry 4118 Six Nations victory over Italy at Twickenham yesterday as Anthony Watson scored two tries and Jonny May claimed a memorable one with an astonishing, acrobatic leap.
‘‘That was back to being us,’’ England captain Owen Farrell said. — Reuters
