St Kevin’s beats WBHS

ST Kevin’s College, Albion and Union picked up Borton Cup points in senior cricket on Saturday.

In a lowscoring game, St Kevin’s restricted Waitaki Boys’ to 62 runs in its innings, Lachie Mavor (13) the best of the batsmen.

Jacob Fowler (three for 17), Anthony Docherty (two for 26) and Ben Kay (two for nine) did the damage with the ball.

Regan George (47 not out) and Jesse Valpy (11 not out) saw St Kevin’s through to 63 runs without loss.

Albion earned a threewicke­t victory over Glenavy at Glenavy.

Glenavy, batting first, made 184 runs for its 10 wickets with

Ethan Booth (51), Rodney van Leeuwen (45) and Zac Graham (24 not out) piling on the runs while Stew Slack took three for 37 and Luke Duncan two for 49.

Union defeated Valley by 39 runs in a highscorin­g contest .

Union, batting first, made 238 for eight in its 50 overs.

Allrounder Brad Fleming (28), Kayne McLaughlin (57) and Happy Singh (25) were the main contributo­rs.

Josh Phipps took three for 52 and Kayne Stirling two for 52.

Valley batted through but fell short by 39 runs.

Toby Johnston (51), Sean Weber (40 not out) and Jayne Aldridge (30) were useful with the bat but Brad Fleming (three for 27) and Duncan Drew (three for 20) ensured Valley fell 40 runs short.
