Man faces driving charges

Oamaru: A Waimate man was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and attempting to avoid police in Oamaru on Sunday. The 34yearold man had allegedly been driving at more than 140kmh on State Highway 1 and did not stop for police, Sergeant Blair Wilkinson, of Oamaru said.

Police received a driving complaint from a member of the public.

Sgt Wilkinson had no further information.

The man is to appear in the Oamaru District Court on March 17.
