Tram passengers turned away
To the editor: Sir, I am glad to see that someone had the courage to complain of the inconvenience which the residents of Normanby have to suffer through the overcrowding of the Normanby car by the city residents. The only remedy is to charge the full fare of threepence from the city with only two stoppages: one at Pitt street and the other at the Gardens. The Valley residents would then be able to get home much easier. At present we often cannot get into a Normanby car, but are kept waiting 20 minutes. If people will crowd the Normanby car, well, let them pay full fare. I know that the council loses money all the time by these crowded cars, as I have often seen. — I am, etc, Normanby
