High performance car fans with a green conscience and about $400,000 to spend, are already filling in order forms for the new McLaren Artua hybrid supercar (pictured). Boasting the sort of fuel economy normally expected from a small fuelefficient hatchback, stunning looks and ferocious performance, the Artua is McLaren’s first seriesproduction HighPerformance Hybrid (HPH) supercar.

Its power train combines a 3litre V6 engine with an electric motor, producing combined outputs of 680PS of power and 720Nm of torque. Constructed from carbon fibre and aluminium, it’s light, at a shade under 1500kg. The claimed acceleration figures are: 0100km/h in 3.0 seconds; 0200km/h in 8.3 seconds; and 0300km/h in 21.5 seconds.
