Mr Reid made the model, which features 10 bikes racing around the track, about 10 years ago, and the exhibition was a good opportunity to give it a ‘‘new lease on life’’, he said.
Also among the six exhibitors was society member of 65 years, Gary Douglas, who began making his lakeside railway model at the beginning of the Covid19 Alert Level 4 lockdown. He ran out of craft supplies and had to wait for Level 2. The final product, which was completed this month, features a 12.8mlong railway around a lake, about 200 handmade trees, and a campsite filled with 3D printed canoes, tents and caravans.
Member Ian Marsh said this year’s exhibition theme ‘‘scale railway’’ had attracted a good crowd. The exhibition is open from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on weeknights this week, and again at the weekend from 10.30am to 4pm.
