Myanmar to protest

TWO Dunedin residents from Myanmar will speak out as part of a peaceful protest, despite fears of reprisal from the military junta.

The protest will be held at the Dunedin Railway Station on Sunday morning, in solidarity with Myanmar, amid a military coup.

‘‘Please help 54 million people in Myanmar to escape from this junta,’’ they said.

The pair asked not to be named after Myanmar’s military warned last week that anticoup protesters could face up to 20 years in prison if found inciting hatred towards the military.
