Gender battles in London

-

London: London University, as well as Cambridge, has its war of the sexes. Girl medical students at London University College aspire to “walk” London University College Hospital. Recently the authorities there issued an order limiting the number of girl medical students who can “walk” the hospital to 12 per year. This was resented as unfair sex disability by the girl students. To secure their end they opened a campaign which resembles a political campaign, in that it is marked by very strong personal attacks, the bitterness of which is more apparent than real. The male students are understood to hold that the female students are mere examination “wallahs” who “cram” all the time and refuse to enter into the real spirit of university life. — ODT, 25.2.1921.
