Fundraising for war memorial

A combined meeting of the Dunedin war memorial committee and representatives of various business and other local organisations was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening to discuss the draft programme drawn up by the finance committee on the direct appeal to be made to the public for funds for the erection of a permanent memorial in the city to the men who gave their lives for king and country during the Great War. Mr J. Loudon said that the principal matter now was to raise the necessary funds. The site had been fixed upon and the programme for the direct appeal to be made to the public for funds during a memorial week from April 12 to April 19 was to cover the whole of the community.
