Guilty of partner’s murder

Auckland: A young mother has been found guilty of murdering her 21yearold partner, Brendon Hamilton.

Almost two years after Hamilton died in his Dominion Rd flat and more than two weeks after RikkiLee Simeon pleaded not guilty to murder, jurors reached a verdict at 3.40pm on Wednesday.

Hamilton (21) was stabbed in the neck in the Mt Eden apartment and died the same day his and Simeon’s daughter Shyanne turned 1 year old.

The unanimous guilty verdict in the High Court at Auckland brought tears of relief to Hamilton’s family, who had waited for justice since May 18, 2019.

Simeon will be sentenced on April 13.
