Dunedin streets to be closed for filming

A SECTION of downtown Dunedin will be closed for filming tomorrow.

The closure comes after confirmation a new Netflix romance, The Royal Treatment, was due to start filming in Dunedin at the end of this month.

The film will star Egyptianborn Canadian actor Mena Massoud, who achieved worldwide fame in Disney’s Aladdin in 2019, and American actress and singer Laura Marano (Austin & Ally, The Perfect Date).

A notice on the Dunedin City Council website says, due to filming, Vogel St, between Police St and Queens Gardens, will be closed to traffic between 7am and 2pm, and Princes St, from Jetty to Rattray Sts, will be closed to traffic between 1pm to 9pm.

Filming also took place in Dunedin at Larnach Castle on Thursday.
