Driver of stolen car drunk

OAMARU: A man driving a stolen car in North Otago recorded a breathalcohol level four times the legal limit on Wednesday.

Constable Bruce Dow, of Oamaru said the 37yearold Timaru man stole the car in Oamaru about 4pm, and was later stopped in Waianakarua, south of Oamaru.

He had a breathalcohol level of 1091mcg. The man was charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, and drinkdriving. He will appear in the Oamaru District Court on April 28.
