Ravensdown
THE view has been expressed by several correspondents that because Ravensdown (ODT, 2.5.22) has a century of history in the area it can act with impunity and residents should simply move out.
I remain unimpressed by the statement that the discharges are mainly ‘‘water vapour with trace quantities of fluoride’’, like many others I am concerned about the other, so called, harmless compounds. If it is just water vapour that is being pumped into the atmosphere what is etching the window glass in the area, and not just in the immediate vicinity of the works. Whatever it is that can etch glass I do not want it in my lungs, and I am guessing neither do those who use the harbourside walkway.
Good neighbours do not pollute people’s properties so that they cannot eat vegetables grown there, or allow noise which interferes with sleep. Jan Parker
