Scene at station after jail release

-

A MAN who turned up at Dunedin Central Police Station ‘‘ranting and raving’’ was arrested just hours after he was released from prison.

A Corrections spokeswoman said the 48yearold man was released from Otago Corrections Facility on Wednesday.

Corrections staff helped drive him into town and let him out a short distance from his release address, she said.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said the man left the Corrections vehicle about 10.30am and proceeded to consume alcohol.

He arrived at the station about 2.35pm and was ‘‘ranting and raving’’ before following people around.

The man was arrested over disorderly behaviour, Snr Sgt Bond said.
