Fishing advocate dies
PORT Chalmers has lost one of its stalwart champions following the death of longstanding fishing advocate Warren Lewis at the weekend.
The Port Chalmers fisherman had a long record of service in marine advocacy and search and rescue.
Mr Lewis spent more than 20 years on the Port Environment Committee and 28 years on the Ministry for Primary Industries South East Recreational Fishing Forum advocating for his fellow anglers.
He was also a life member of the New Zealand Recreational Fishing Council and gave 40 years of service to Marine Search and Rescue. An obituary will follow.
